OBJECTS OF SOUND | design logo

Two changes have prompted sound in museums: on one hand technological improvements have made it possible to control sound displays, and on the other affective and sensorial turns have led to the acknowledgement that sound is important in museums to arouse emotion, memories, and thus to work on mankind’s identity. On the other hand, sound is traditionally though as immaterial and intangible. Contrariwise, if sound can affect us, then it is material. It follows that sound and music are to be delivered by museums, and be celebrated as such, just like all the other forms of culture so far.
